Eco-Friendly Packaging Guide

ZimtyCo strives to use Green, Eco Friendly Solutions in our packaging! This includes but is not limited to easily recyclable/compostable/bio-degradable, FSC approved and PCW (post-consumer waste) materials. Please see a full guide on materials/items used and how to dispose of them below!

Seedpaper

Any packaging that includes seedpaper is marked as such! Please take note that it's mostly any backing paper/sticker packaging. 

Seedpaper can be planted and is also compostable! 

Plant Seedpaper under 1/8 inch (3-4mm) of soil and Water thoroughly! Place in a sunny corner and keep moist during germination.

Note: I am not able to ship seedpaper to most intl countries, so the packaging will be substituted with recyclable paper instead~

Clear Bags

Most clear bags that are used in our packaging are made from plant materials and hence are certified compostable and recyclable. For proper composting these items need to be brought to commercial composting facilities but are bio-degradable nonetheless.

Tissue Paper and Tape

The tissue paper is recyclable, made from acid-free paper (+30% PCW) and soy based ink, it is FSC certified, eco-friendly and easy to recycle! Do check with your local recycling facility if they accept tissue paper tho!

Tape isalso FSC certified and made from acid-free paper with soy based inks and plant based adhesives that make them recyclable, compostable (even at home!) and bio-degradable!

Thank You Card

The thank you card is made to be reused as an art print but is also recyclable! I try to make sure to have a new thank you card design for each update and will track new + recurring customers to try to make sure you don't get the same thank you card design twice~

Twine String

The twine string made out of natural hemp is eco-friendly and should be compostable and biodegradable!

Box/Envelopes, Poly Mailers, Shipping Labels, Filler and Backing Cards

All supplies above are recyclable and mostly made of reused, recycled content and/or PCW. The Poly bags are also reusable a second time so definitely save those if you wish to use them again!! You can leave the shipping labels on as well since those are also curbside recyclable!

Glassine Bags

All Glassine bags are recyclable! Unfortunately for the envelopes I didn't research carefully and accidentally bought non-biodegradable ones. Please be aware that these envelopes are best reused or recycled! For the glassine baggies (big bags) those will be biodegradable and can be tossed in the trash if wanted.

To be recycled: 

Everything is recyclable (except for clearbags, twine and seedpaper)

Plant me:

Seedpaper

Into the Compost: 

Clearbags, Twine, Seedpaper (if not planted), Tape (if not recycled) -- if you can't compost you can easily throw them into the landfill since they are all biodegradable!
